I am a passionate person by nature. When I'm into something, I'm all in. My husband likes to call it obsessive, but I prefer to be called passionate. Take for instance my passion for Diet Coke. I have one with my breakfast each morning. To me, there is no better way to start my day than with all the bubbly goodness that Diet Coke has to offer. And my passion for purses. I just love a great purse.

But more importantly, my passion for photography. My husband might be right when he calls it an obsession. I am obsessed with finding the perfect location, the perfect lighting, and as a result, the perfect picture. Which all comes in quite handy when you're looking for a photographer. Someone who pays attention to every detail, who cares about the little things, and someone who's desire is to create the perfect session.

That's my goal as your photographer. To do all the work so you don't have to. So you can show up at your session relaxed and ready to have fun, knowing that you'll have beautiful, custom artwork to display on your walls as the end result.

So let me do that for you. After all, it's my passion.

just perfect | sacramento infant photographer

It always feels like Christmas to me when I finish a session and pop my compact flash into my computer. I get all giddy as I sit and wait for my files to copy into their new folder so I can view them and star my favorites. I especially feel that way after a session where I know I got lots of great images.

That’s how today’s session with {K} was. I just couldn’t wait to browse through all of the pictures and start editing them. And once I started, I just couldn’t stop! This little one was such a doll! Her eyes are so amazingly expressive and she’s at my favorite age where she can sit up but can’t crawl away out of my camera’s frame. Love that.

And I love these first two images. So much so that I think I might just order a canvas of one as a studio sample. The lighting was just perfect (which we had to work for–believe me). Being a natural light photographer has it’s challenges in the winter. We actually had {K} set up a couple of feet from the door and I did most of my shooting from out on the porch (with Dad and Mom taking turns making silly sounds and faces behind me.) Put all that together and you get the perfect session, don’t you agree?

Blog1Blog2Blog6Blog4Blog3Blog7Mom and Dad–I had a great time getting to know you and little {K} today. I hope you love your sneak peek! I’ll be in touch and will let you know when your gallery is ready!

a few more | sacramento baby photographer

The flu has taken out half of our family this week and I’ve been part of that equation. Now I’m playing catch up for the extra (but much needed) rest that I snuck in during my kiddos nap time. So just a few valentine mini session images for now.

Little {A} can be seen all over my blog and website and I just adore her. Though she was feeling a bit under the weather as well, you would never know it by her precious smile. Just looking at these images makes me want to squeeze those cheeks! Blog2Blog1

mini valentines | sacramento children’s photographer

I held my mini valentine sessions this past Saturday and had such a great time with all of the kids that came out. There was another break in the storm so we had some beautiful natural light to work with. Here are just a few of the cuties from the mini sessions–more to come in another post.Blog3Blog1Blog3

I’m in love | sacramento area newborn photographer

So this is what six days looks like. So fresh, so new, and so adorably snuggly. This little one is by far the most sleepy, cooperative, and precious newborn that I have photographed to date. And I’m not biased at all since he’s my brand new nephew. I cannot describe how much I love little {H}. I think the love that you have as an aunt is probably as close to the love you have for your own children as you can get (I know some grandmas out there are about to argue with me, but I honestly believe it.)

And I think it must mean even more when it’s the child of your one and only big sister. There is a special bond between sisters no doubt. I know that I wouldn’t be where I am today without my big sis. She is the one who shares all of the same childhood memories. She is the one who was there when I gave birth to both of my children and encouraged me, telling me that I could do it when I felt like I couldn’t. She is the one who was there with me at my Dad’s beside when he took his last breathe. And she is the one who knows what it’s like to try to create a life other than the one you had imagined when you lose your Daddy to cancer. She’s the one that understands the joys, the tears, and the beauty of motherhood. She’s my sister and I’m so grateful God gave her to me.

And I just adore the two beautiful boys that she and my brother in law have created. I feel so blessed to live just a mile from them and that to get to watch my nephews grow up.  And I feel so honored that I got to take little {H’s} newborn pictures–he’s such a beautiful little guy and the perfect little model. He didn’t even make a peep the whole time–what a trooper!Blog2Blog3bBlog1d

a ray of sunshine | sacramento senior photographer

I always love senior sessions. They are so relaxed, fun, and the subject actually wants to have their picture taken so it’s a win-win for everyone. I’ve photographed beautiful {T} and her family before, but this time it was all about her. We chose Capitol Park as our location and it provided a really beautiful backdrop (and some interesting, yet memorable interactions with the locals–poor {T} was even proposed to by one man wandering the grounds. And Jen, “Is that a baby doggy in your bag?”)

We were so lucky to have a day without rain. I was seriously about ready to get out my hammer in preparation for building an Ark. The skies cleared just in time for our session and we had some amazing light. If you don’t know, photographers love light. Like love it so much we could just gobble it up! Beautiful light is just so yummy and this light was delicious!

{T}, I had a great time with you and am so grateful neither of us fell out of that tree! I hope you love your senior pictures and enjoy every moment of your last year in high school–you deserve it!Blog1Blog5Blog3Blog4Blog2

bold and bright | sacramento child photographer

Oh my cuteness! I know I have said it before, but it bears repeating–I have the absolute cutest clients around. These dolls have to be some of the most beautiful sisters I have ever laid eyes on. I was so excited to photograph them again this weekend and was over the moon when Mom pulled out all of their outfits–color, color, and more color! As a photographer I love to photograph color, and to me, the brighter the better. There is something so fun and playful–something that just screams childhood–about bright, bold colors.

And Mom totally knows my style. I love when she pulled out one of the wardrobe changes and said, “You’re going to go out this week and get this one, aren’t you?” And you know what? I already had the outfit for my own little girl! Talk about being in sync! Love it! I also have a feeling you’ll be seeing a lot more of their faces around here. Some of the images from their session have become my favorites and I plan to use them in my new marketing materials.

Mom, I know you’ve been waiting so patiently for this sneak peek, so without further ado…your gorgeous daughters.Blog5Blog3Blog4Blog1And just because I love the face on little {C} in this next image…

let them eat cake | sacramento baby photographer

The biggest compliment to me is when a client comes back to take more images of their child. I absolutely love when I see a familiar name in my inbox requesting a future session. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. That they liked their pictures so much they chose me again as their photographer. What an honor!

I was so excited to see {J} for his one year session this weekend. Last time I photographed {J} he was just four months old–and adorable at that! You’ll recognize him up in my header with those stunning baby blues. Well, he’s even cuter at one year (if that’s possible!) and we had such a great time yesterday at our shoot. Unfortunately the weather was horrendous and we had to stay indoors, but it worked out perfectly for our cake smash session. One year olds + cake = an adorable mess!Blog2Blog3Blog1Blog4Mom–thank you so much for choosing me to capture {J’s} one year images. I had a great time and hope you love your sneak peek! I’ll let you know as soon as your full gallery is ready!

you are my sunshine | sacramento area child photographer

Another gloomy Sacramento day. If it’s going to rain outside, you might as well look good while playing in it (even if your boots are on the wrong feet)!Blog1Blog3Blog4 copyBlog2And would you believe me if I told you that we’re up to 607 votes for the Best of 2009 contest? I seriously cannot believe how this has taken off!
